Preventing Hair Loss





Although, in a few cases, teenagers lose their hair, baldness or hair loss is usually something only found in adults. It may be a sign of an underlying ailment and hair loss can result from numerous origins varying from hormonal imbalance to an incorrect diet and may mean a person could be unwell.

Preventing hair loss can be a complicated matter. However, there are a few methods that can be utilised, such as undergoing regular exercise, a correct diet containing a healthy mix of vitamins and nutrients, which is essential for your general health and ultimately your hair health, scalp massaging to stimulate blood circulation and avoiding excessive use of hair styling products.

Early baldness can be caused, it has been discovered, by two genes that could increase the risk of hair loss – the ‘androgen receptor, inherited from the mother and chromosome 20 which can be inherited from both mother and father.

About one-third of males, by the age of 30, show signs of baldness and approximately 50% suffering from the most common form of hair loss, androgenic alopecia, at 50 years of age. Unfortunately, androgenic alopecia is caused by an hereditary sensitivity to androgens which are generally occurring hormones.

Although you cannot prevent hair loss, and there are many unproven remedies available that prove this point. There are one or two, however, that have been shown to be effective. They can prevent hair loss and in some case even encourage new growth, but are not successful for all cases and are more helpful in the early stages of hair loss.

Losing hair can be stressful at any time, but even more so during teenage years. However, hair loss at this stage is usually temporary and hair usually grows back when the underlying problems have been identified and corrected.
